Luvenia "Polly" Bernard was born February 4, 1935 to the late I.T. and Julia Odessa Murry in Charleston, Mississippi who preceded her in death. She confessed Christ at an early age. Luvenia received her education from the public school system in Mississippi and later moved to Detroit, Michigan to marry the love of her life, the late Kinclo Bernard. She was an dedicated home maker, wife, wonderful mother and one of the best cooks around. Anyone who came by her house, left with a full belly. Most of all, Luvenia loved going to bingo with her daughters, playing cards with the family and of course watching the Detroit Tigers play. Luvenia joined New White Stone Baptist Church in 1961 under the leadership of late Reverend Henry Davis where she served on the Usher Board until she was called home to Christ.
She leaves to cherish five children....
Mamie (Sylvester) Brown, Patricia Norwood, Terri (Ramon) Herrera, Tony Bernard and Wayne Bernard. 10 grandchildren; Paul, Starr, Joseph (Tanga), Tanisha, Nicole, Toni, Tiffany, Tony, Tina and Aaron. 7 great grandchildren; One brother, Robert (Kathy) Murry, two sisters; Mildred Murry and Julia Murry, three brothers and two sisters who preceded her in death and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, July 17 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 25450 Plymouth Rd., Redford, Michigan 48239.
A Family Viewing will be on Monday, July 18 at 10:30 am followed by the funeral service 11:00 am at the funeral home led by Reverend Lee Morris Bernard.
