Buckman, Mary Josephine “Jo” (Spragg), age 92 formerly of Detroit, Eastpointe, Warren and most recently Livonia, passed away december 21, 2025. Mary Jo was a graduate of St. Anthony High School in 1951. She was an active member of St. Basil Catholic Church in Eastpointe, involved in the Altar Society and annual Christmas Bazaar. Mary Jo moved to Warren in 1980 and became a member of St. Rene Goupil Catholic Church in Sterling Heights where she organized funeral luncheons. Her last residence was in Livonia at Marycrest Senior Living Apartments.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Margaret Spragg (Boccaccio); brother, Patrick Jr.; beloved husband, Donald Buckman; and grandson, Lawrence Lawson II.

She is survived by her three children, Cindy Lamb (Robert), Paul Buckman (Vicky), and Mary Ellen Lawson (Alan). Also grandchildren Nathan Lamb, Travis Lamb (Courtney), Lindsay Johnson-LeMieux (Tarran), Chance Buckman (Sheree), and Megan Lawson, along with 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Basil Catholic Church in Eastpointe at a later date to be posted on Facebook.

No flowers please, although a memorial contribution to Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Boys Town will be most appreciated.
