

Oscar was the oldest and the only brother of four children. He was
affectionately known as Junior. He attended Coldwater High School in Mississippi. He played the drums in the High School band.
He was inducted into the Army on July 13, 1967. He served in the Army until July 12, 1973. He was awarded an Honorable discharge, and he earned a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal And he was a Sharpshooter with the M-14 (automatic battle rifle). He was highly skilled, and being a Sharpshooter is a badge of honor that speaks to his focus and competence under pressure.
Oscar moved to Detroit several years ago to make a new life for himself. He started working for Ford Motor Company and gave them 35 years of hard work as a tag relief, which means he knew everyone’s job. He was able to cover for anyone who needed a break. He was so passionate about working on cars. He could take a car apart and put it back together.
Oscar was a Family man and a provider. He was married to Janice, and they shared a love for over 50 years. Oscar also shared a special yet unique bond with each of his children. He was one of the friendliest people, and everyone in the neighborhood knew him and loved him. When people speak of Oscar, they always say how kind and wise he was. Oscar loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much, and he made it a priority to make sure they wanted for nothing.
Oscar departed this life on April 12th, and he knew he was loved as he left this earth. He leaves to cherish his memory: Wife: Janice Jones Children of seven: Jacqueline(Herb)Harris; Patrick Hunt;
