Roy Robert Bour was born on the kitchen table of his home on Manor Street in Detroit, Michigan to the late Michael and Clara Bour on January 24, 1928. He passed away peacefully in his Redford Township, Michigan home, under the gentle care of Angela Hospice and his family on December 17, 2017 at the age of 89.
Roy was a longtime member of Emmanuel Church where he was confirmed and later married. He graduated from Mackenzie High School. Roy was also a very proud veteran who served in the United States Army Air Corp. just after WWII.
On May 2, 1959, he married the love of his life, Joanne Patterson Bour and together they raised 3 children, June de Lorme, Walter Bour, and Eileen (Keith) Cook all of whom he was very proud of. Roy and Joanne were married for 33 years until Joanne's death in 1993. Grandpa of 4 grandchildren that he cherished: Nicholas de Lorme, Kirstin Cook, Christopher de Lorme, and Sara Cook. Brother of Shirley DeKarsky and the late Marjorie Geistler. Roy was an animal lover and will be missed by his many pets and grand-animals.
Roy was a heavy machine repairman for many successful years at General Motors until his retirement. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, fast food, camping, aqua-aerobics, big band music, spaghetti westerns, and all Detroit sports teams. Roy was ferociously loyal to his family, however he still loved teasing his grandchildren.
His favorite advice was: "Have fun, be good. If you can't be good, name it after me!" Roy doled out his wisdom and advice right up until his last days. His fun-loving nature will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Roy's family will receive friends for a Visitation on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 1-8pm. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Harry J.
