George was born in October 18, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the army during World War II and then returned to Redmond, Washington to run the family farm on Lake Sammamish. On "Derby Day" of 1949, he and the Raab family (his father, mother, and brother) founded Raab's Redmond Furniture and they furnished the growing Eastside for years to come. He was a pioneer in the early Redmond days when the town had less that 2,000 residents, and the "Store" became a local meeting place. George married Mildred Turple in 1964. Later they joined with other local parents to start Eastside Catholic High School. As a golf enthusiast he was an early charter member of Sahalee Country Club. He loved British automobiles, old tractors, antique furniture and restored them all. He kept the family tradition of salmon fishing alive, well into his 80s. Farming was always his first love and after the original dairy farm he continued to grow much of their own food at the family home on the lake.
A wise, generous, kind hearted family man who cared for his community... he was loved by many and will be missed by all.
George is survived by his daughter, Donna, son in law, Chris Matrinez, and their two daughters, Lauren and Alissa.
