The neighbors got together on Thursday for a special memory night for Linda. One of our neighbors went all out with Hawaiian decorations, food, music and ordered orchids to make flower leis. We shared stories about Linda and here are our memories.

**Linda had an effervescent personality, warm, welcoming smile and infectious laugh, oftentimes poking fun and laughing at herself!

**For our monthly book club, she would always read or listen to the book. She would go on walks wearing these huge 80's style mint-colored headphones listening to the current book, on accelerated speed. 

**When she hosted, she chose unique, thoughtful books which always lead to great discussions. Thanks Erika and David, she tributes the book recommendations coming from both of you.

**The food dishes she brought to our gatherings were delicious, seemed effortless to whip up and introduced us to cultural cuisines.

**Linda and I (Marnie) would go walking for exercise. Yes, admittingly, sometimes months would go by until we walked again, but our conversations picked up right where we left off.

**Many of our kids grew up with Erika and David. Memories of ice cream socials, Halloween pizza parties, swim team, snowboarding/skiing, playing "school "and getting into trouble! Erika and David, your Mom was soooo proud of you and often talked about your accomplishments. Her greatest prayer for you is to know Jesus and to walk closely with God. Whenever Spencer misses Linda, he can look at both of you because you both embody your Mom's loving heart.

**Spencer, she loved and admired you. She is thankful for the life you provided for her and the kids. God is good to give you so many traveling adventures to hold onto as wonderful memories.
  
**Our neighborhood is missing our dear friend. She was loved by all she had touched. She often talked about her strong faith in God and we know she is at peace in his presence. Aloha and Agape, sweet Linda!

Memories of two  of us teaching Keiki Hula at CCF Luau

I have known Linda for many years since we first met in our community group. I regarding her as a dear sister in Christ. I admire her love for God and for others. Linda exemplified who Jesus is through her care for people around her and for her outreach services /mission trips or serving in our community group. Linda was such a great and graceful Hula dancer and she loved to worship God through her dancing.  Linda's laughter was so contagious and loud that warmed up the entire room and made everyone so happy. I am going to miss her big smiles and her loving presence dearly.
I always impressed with how much love she had for her husband Spencer and her children Erika and David because she often spoke proudly, tenderly and dearly about them.  It is still with such heavy heart for the sudden loss of my dear sister in Christ, but I know Linda is happy and dancing with the Lord in heaven. We pray for her soul rest in peace!!

The month I came to Cornerstone, I started dancing Praise and Worship Hula with leader Linda and a lovely group of dancers from different churches. The next month, I went on a mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico and roomed with three other gals, including Linda. We all got along and enjoyed serving the Lord together with love and laughter.



What a blessing it is to know Linda!  Graceful, gentle, warm smile, generous, diligent, caring, compassionate, attention to detail, thoughtful, genuine, heart for the Lord, courageous, encourager, kind . . . These are a few of the words that come to mind when we think of Linda.   

Beautiful on the outside and on the inside too. We talked to her just a few days before her passing at our CG and she shared how happy she was for Erika that she had found such a great guy---that's you TK!  And how proud she was of David.  She also thanked us profusely for cookies we brought back from Hawaii because "they are Spencer's favorite!"   She also talked about her mom and siblings in Hawaii.  It was so clear--- Linda loved her family so much!!!!   

Linda - We miss you!  Yet, we are thankful that you are with the Lord who you love, and who also loves you.

Linda’s example of pure Christian love, joy, and kindness emanated from her radiant smile, which she was widely known for. Linda walked the Christian talk with her obedient service and compassionate love for all her “neighbors.” Irreplaceable Linda was the “glue” in so many areas of life and even after she left us (way too soon), she brought so many people together in love & friendship, making us all “Ohana.” Linda was one of my roommates during our Oaxaca, Mexico Mission Trip. Linda and I were also roomies during our Cornerstone Women’s Retreat. We got along so well, that we decided we’d be roommates again in the future. As one of her Hula “sistuhs,” I’m not sure how we’re going to move forward, without Linda leading us. Sweet Linda has left a huge hole in our lives, but she has also left a legacy of Christ’s example and many fruit of the Spirit. I look forward to seeing her again in Heaven. Love you, Linda ❤️

When I think of Linda, I remember her grace, patience and love. Grace in her teaching and dancing hula, patience with me personally as a staff member of Cornerstone and the love she displayed in the ways she gave of herself to Halau Hula O Ho'onani and Cornerstone. Her love for the Lord was so evident through her service. Her heart of true worship was displayed so beautifully as she danced for Him whether on stage or at practice. She was an example for all and I will forever be thankful for what the Lord taught me through her. 

Happy Heavenly Birthday to my dear friend and  precious sister.  I miss you so much.  We've been through a lot together over the years...Hula, Community Group, Neighbors, and Line Dance buddies. So many memories come to mind.  I miss our carpool talks every Saturday, the stories, the wonderful meals, and your friendship.    Your beauty, gentle spirit, loving kindness, warm smile and outpouring of love has left a lasting effect on all of us who had the privilege and pleasure of serving, ministering, and dancing with you.   And I'll always remember that on 3-3-2022, you left us with three beautiful rainbows and the most beautiful sunset that the Pacific NW has ever seen.  It may be "Aloha" for now my friend, but through our belief in Christ, we will see each other again and we'll be dancing together with the angels in heaven.  Love you, Celeste

Linda, I miss you so much. When I moved to Washington, I didn’t know anyone (except for my in-laws). Everything was new to me and I was eager to find a place to fit in. I joined your hula halau just so that I could meet people with the Hawaii connection. You welcomed me with open arms, and so did all of the other hula sisters. I felt at home and so comforted. You and Spencer opened your home to all of us for many hula and holiday gatherings. For the first time, I felt I had a family outside of Hawaii. Linda, you did so much for our hula halau and many people were blessed by you. Thank you for visiting me in Maui and having many meals with me outside of hula. I hope you are dancing with the Lord face to face. Thank you Linda for your love and kindness towards me. 

It's Linda's birthday today....so many memories of our dear sister!  I had the privilege to serve alongside Linda over the years, greeting together, and I worked with her a lot as she took care of the books for Cornerstone.  Linda was so meticulous, she was so conscientious about the details...that's where Linda and I bonded.  We understood each other.  She would always tell me in her excited voice...."you understand!!!" and "No problem! I can do that!"  She was always so willing to help, to pitch in, to lend her hand of expertise to others.  She served tirelessly behind the scenes.  She served with such humility.  She used her gifts for the body of Christ so beautifully.  She danced where others could visually see, but she also did SO MUCH behind the scenes not many would even know.  The many hours she put in, the late nights to catch up, she put her heart and soul into all she did.  That was so evident and apparent.  She brought the aloha sunshine and the Lord's love and grace wherever she went, and although I have no words to describe how I will miss her here, I look forward to seeing her again being greeted by that contagious and gorgeous smile and warm loving greeting she always had. March 14 is Linda's birthday.  To honor her, here are a number of photos of good times with her CG, hula sisters over the years and at a Women's Ministry small gathering event.  Not only did Linda love to worship the Lord through Christian hula, she taught us also and led a wonderful, loving ministry so that God's love could be shared with others.   She and Lucie would also host various hula lunches, dinners and gatherings either in their homes or at restaurants.  Even if we weren't able to stay on the team due to serving in other ways, we were always still welcome to join the hula sistas.   One of my favorite memories was when we spent time looking for the right fabric to make our team skirts (or pa'u) and sewed them as a team (she had to teach us how to sew too!)  I miss you Linda, but am glad I will see you again!  Thinking of you on your birthday! 

I will always remember Linda’s smile and how vibrant she was. I remember carpooling with her somewhere and felt she was so easy to talk too.  We were greeters together on occasions and I always felt she was so welcoming and warm. Her smile when she did hula made me feel her love for God. I remember asking how her missions trip to Cambodia was and her honesty just made me laugh, yet I knew she went with joy for the Lord. 
Dave and I know she is rejoicing and dancing in heaven with her beautiful smile. We will miss you on earth Linda. Praying for Spencer, Erika and David daily! Love and blessings, Connie and David

We will always remember Linda's Spirit-filled joy.  It was so apparent in her radiant smile, her ready laugh, and her warm and welcoming heart.  Even when she and Spencer weren't doing the official greeting at the church entry, she was always sensitive and aware of new people, or people who might need a friendly hello or an encouraging word.  When times were tough, she often said  "It's gonna be OK".   Linda's joy was uncontainable and overflowed when she praised God in her dance.  She blessed and touched us with her beautiful and graceful dance.  And she danced when she obediently went on missions trips.  And we agree with others that she's now dancing for our Lord with the biggest smile.  Linda will be missed so, so much, but we can hear her - this faithful woman of God - saying "It's gonna be OK." Linda was such a bright light and friendly person who truly embodied a welcoming spirit. I will hold close my memories of her, especially during hula practice where I witnessed  the love and peace pouring out in her worship through dancing. Not only was she a beautiful hula dancer, she was also a kind and patient teacher. I hope she knew how much joy she brought to others. Keeping her family in prayer. 

Linda was a woman of beauty, graciousness and generosity.  She had an inner bright light, warmth and positive energy that could be felt when she entered into a room. Our conversations are precious and treasured moments. I am grateful to have known her.   She was truly loved as a sister in Christ.  She was an inspiration and the true definition of what a true servant’s heart looks like.  Her absence be truly missed from our community group and church.   Until we see each other again. Linda always had a warm smile and a graceful presence that welcomed all who came into her sphere. I am so thankful for the deep convos we had, our times of prayer and accountability, and all the laughs. She loved well and am for grateful to have her in my life. Until we meet again dear sis…

I will never forget Linda's warm smile and laugh.  She was one of the first neighbors our family met when we moved in a few doors down 11 years ago.  Linda had a way of always making you feel welcome and special.  She brought so much joy and fun to our neighborhood book club.  She will be dearly missed by so many of us.  

Linda will be deeply missed by our church family. The warmth of her countenance , her elegance and grace - oh and her wardrobe! She was always beautifully dressed! Her hula dances is what I will remember most. There were many times it brought tears to my eyes to watch her praise Jesus with her gift. As hard as it is to say goodbye, I am so thankful to have known her. 

Linda was always so kind, friendly, loving and gentle in all of my interactions with her.  Her smile is what I will always remember the most.    We had Linda and her family over for Christmas one year (when they couldn't go back to Hawaii).  I remember that she brought this very tasty salad.  She was an excellent cook.  I loved the way she did hula as I could tell her love for the Lord was authentic and deep.  Watching her dance always encouraged me to love the Lord with all of my heart, mind and soul.  Thank you Linda for how you lived your life. I'll see you later in Heaven & pray that I will live my life like you did on earth.   All Praise to Jesus! Love, Lori

I had the privilege of serving on a medical mission trip in Cambodia with Linda. We bonded over our dislike of public speaking, the humidity, and the huge bugs while we tried to keep cool on one of our many bus rides. She shared how thankful she was to be able to have this opportunity to serve, and her love for God was always apparent. She had such a gentle, loving, kind and determined spirit. She always had a smile on her face, and such a willing heart to serve. I will miss her greatly. 

Spencer, Erika, David (and other family) ...we are so sorry for your loss. You are in our daily thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to pray for you all. 

We often sat behind the Shiromas at church and always appreciated Linda’s warmth and friendliness.  She had a servant’s heart and was so gracious handling our offering receipts when we needed a change.  Her hula was such  a beautiful expression of worship to the Lord and we can picture her joy now as she dances for Him in person.

What a blessing Linda was to me! She always had a sweet smile and gentle demeanor that drew you to here. In doing so, we were also drawn to God.  

There are many memories of her, but the one that meant a lot to me was when she came to the Oaxaca sharing time in 2020. Not many people came out, but Linda was one of them who did. That meant so much to me that she took the time to come, listen and support us! 

I reach out to different people to check in on them and Linda was one of them.  We might have talked since this date, but I recorded her prayer request on 9.24.21 and she said: "It has been more of an effort to reach out to others spiritually.  In our CG, we've been praying for more opportunities to minister and more purposeful intentions on our part to reach out.  Since then, I have been doing so much better. Would appreciate prayer for the same." I love her heart to reach others for Jesus. 

She is now in the loving arms of her Maker who proudly says, "You have been a good and faithful servant!" What a blessing it has been to know, serve and do life with you Linda! Til we meet again! 

Linda loved to worship the Lord and share His love with others through Christian hula.  She shared His love by the way she lived with her kind spirit.  I’m thankful for her friendship and loving ways.  She is dearly missed.  Lifting up the Shiroma family in prayer.  💕❤️🙏

Easter Hula // 4.05.2015

It was ALWAYS a joy to see and "talk story" with Linda at church.  Another 'local girl' who had made home here in Seattle, but her smile and her words were all aloha.  A specific memory I have about Linda is her teaching our keiki hula.  My daughter Lindsey, who was 3 at the time, enjoyed learning from 'Aunty Linda' and looked forward to every practice after church.  You taught aloha and grace that I know has had an impact on Lindsey even today.    Thank you Aunty Linda and I know you are now enjoying hula in the presence of our Lord. I remember being greeted by Linda's friendly face, and beautiful smile, when we moved into the neighborhood 20 years ago. She was the first neighbor to welcome us. Since our boys were the same age, we shared many experiences together. Our boys had many play dates and adventures, including learning how to ride bkes, in the cul de sac, just before starting kindergarten. Linda and I took quilting classes together, went to BSF (bible study fellowship) classes, and I watched, in awe, at her many performances with her talented hula group. I will cherish the memories of my lovely friend. 

Linda was one if the kindest individuals I have met at work.  She calmed down people surrounding her with her prayers and positive attitude .  She was so generous in every way.  When she walked in the office, she had chocolate treats for everyone.  We miss you so much Linda. Thanks for teaching me a better person.
