

On June 5, 2016, at 3:06 AM, Nancy Josephine Harris, affectionately known as Aunt Josie, entered the pearly gates of Heaven. She was born November 20, 1917 to Lawrence and Ella Sparks in Santa Rosa, Missouri. After graduating from Maysville High School in l936, she attended business college in St. Joseph, Missouri. She also worked briefly for Wonder Bread in St. Joseph before moving to Wichita, Kansas, where she was employed by the Aero Parts Defense Factory for three years. When the plant closed, Aunt Josie moved to San Francisco, California where she was employed by Butler Brothers, Lipton’s Tea, and Stecher-Traung-Schmidt Litho. While working at Butler Brothers, she met her husband, Gordon Harris. They were married in October of l947. After moving to Hayward, California, Aunt Josie worked for the International Paper Company in San Francisco until she retired in l989. In Hayward, Aunt Josie was an active member of the Fairway Park Baptist Church. In December of 2007 Aunt Josie moved to Madison House in Kirkland, Washington, to be close to her niece Trudy Olson and her husband Dwight. Aunt Josie had a great zest for life. She loved to travel with friends and throw parties. Most of all, she loved to laugh. Her laugher was contagious, and is now ringing through the halls of heaven. When she laughed, everyone laughed because of her wonderful sense of humor. Aunt Josie was known as the “Traveling Aunt” to her nieces and nephews, and went out of her way to make them feel loved on holidays, birthdays, and special occasions.She is survived by her sisters Merle White of Bellevue, Washington, Eileen Dotson of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Pauline Brown of Raytown, Missouri. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Missouri, Indiana, and Washington.
