Valeria June Gardner, 88, passed away on April 19, 2016 in Kirkland, WA. June was born on May 29, 1927 to Luther Elwood Waldrip and Nellie Valeria (Casady) Waldrip in Havre, Montana, where she was one of ten children. She graduated from Havre High School in 1945.
Her work career started while she was still in school and included several years as a Switchboard Operator and, after moving to Warden, WA, she served as Assistant to the Principal at Warden High School. She continued working after her marriage to Roy A. Gardner. Upon Roy’s accident in October 1966, she was his caregiver until his death in June 1982.
June touched many lives with her generosity, love and caring nature. One of the special ways she showed love was her baking. Whether it was to support charities or church fundraisers or to provide a “yard of donuts” for a friend (a 3-foot dowel strung completely full of donuts), or her “pastry of the day” for the neighborhood high school boys on their way home from school, June always had something special just out of the oven. She was so busy cooking for large groups of friends and family that she would always say “I ran a bed and breakfast before bed and breakfasts were even invented.” June will be greatly missed by her family and community of friends.
June is survived by her 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, 3 sisters and a brother along with many nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her husband Roy A. Gardner; son George, daughter Donna and siblings Lorena, Donald, Clinton, Harold, and Nevella.
Arrangements under the direction of Cedar Lawns Funeral Home, Redmond, WA.
