Born on April 26, 1940, in Wuschewier, Germany, to Terese and Albert Kreide, Bo's early life was shaped by the tumultuous post-war period. As a child, his parents made the difficult decision to send him alone to live with his grandparents in West Germany, while they later orchestrated separate escapes with his sisters, Uta and Anita, to reunite the family. In Germany, Bo trained as a carpenter, but his heart yearned for the skies. At just 17, unable to pursue his dream of flying in post-war Germany, he boldly embarked on a new life in Quebec, Canada. There, while working various jobs, he began his journey into aviation. His passion led him to Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in aircraft mechanics, which helped finance his flight instruction courses. His dedication culminated in becoming both a flight instructor and an FAA Examiner. In 1972, Bo married Jean, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 52 years. They welcomed their daughter Anita in 1973, and in 1974, Bo began his career at Northrop as an aircraft mechanic, later advancing to aircraft inspector until his retirement in 2000.
Bo's built his own aircraft, a Long Ez, from plans purchased from Burt Rutan in Mojave for $220. Over nine years, he meticulously constructed the plane in his garage after work hours, often saying he prayed to God for the strength to complete it. His craftsmanship earned awards from the Experimental Aircraft Association, and his innovative designs for a larger engine manifold and air intake were adopted by other builders in the community. Bo found great joy in grandchildren Will, Spencer, and Alina. While he considered them too young to fly, he cherished taking his wife Jean, daughter Anita, and close family on flights in his beloved aircraft. Bo and Jean traveled extensively, exploring the world together and creating lasting memories. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean of 52 years; his sisters Uta and Anita in Germany; his daughter Anita and son-in-law Jeff; and his three cherished grandchildren, William, Alina, and Spencer. Bo's legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the aircraft he built, and the family he loved so dearly. His remarkable journey from post-war Germany to achieving his dreams in America serves as an inspiration to all who knew him.
