She had one sibling, her younger brother Michael. Marie grew up and attended school in Los Angeles, graduating from Fremont High School in 1955. She married Herman Bennett the following year, and over the course of their ten-year marriage gave birth to four sons: Michael, who died in infancy, Guy, Mark, and Chris. Following their divorce, Marie raised the children on her own with the support of her parents. She met her life partner, John Desatoff, at this time; they were together for more than 40 years when he passed away in 2014. Marie loved music, dancing, food and family. At parties and social gatherings she was typically among the first guests to arrive and the last to leave. All who knew and loved her mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Michael and Mark, and her partner, and is survived by her brother Michael (Edithe), sons Guy and Chris (Carla), and granddaughter Milena.
