In loving memory of Lee Albert Martin, of Reedley, California, who passed away at the age of 83 on October 9th, 2023. Born on June 24th, 1940 in San Rafael, California, Lee grew up in the area now known as China Camp State Park, with his mother, Catherine (née Lucara) and father Merlin, brother Fred and sister Delores (Dee Dee).
Lee was a retired plum farmer who had an unwavering love for nature and the land. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Rosalia, and a beautiful legacy with his two children, daughter Karen, and son Allan, five adoring grandchildren, and a wonderful community of friends and family.
For 51 years, Lee was married to Rosalia (also known as Rosie), the love of his life, a testament to the enduring power of their love. He was known for being the kindest person one could ever meet. His smile and sense of humor brightened the lives of everyone around him. Lee had a deep appreciation for the natural world; he loved the majesty of the forest, especially the Giant Sequoias in Grant Grove, as well as the coastal beaches of San Diego and the ocean. His intelligence and wisdom were admired by many, and his warmth and kindness made him beloved by all who knew him. Lee also had a sweet tooth and had a penchant for desserts, with a particular fondness for chocolate, apple pie and ice cream. Butterscotch cookies were also a weakness he couldn't resist, and he enjoyed sampling craft beer, especially dark ales, stouts and IPAs.
As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Lee as a remarkable person whose love for the land, his family, and his fellow beings enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on in our hearts.
Funeral services for Lee will be held on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Reedley Cemetery, 2185 S. Reed Avenue, Reedley, CA 93654.
