Audrey "Anishinabe KWE (Indian Woman)" Cochrane

Audrey Joan Cochrane (Quewezance) “Granny”, born June 17, 1932 in a tent near Kamsack, SK and passed away on February 20, 2023 in Regina with family by her side, at the age of 90 years.

Audrey was a member of Keeseekoose First Nation and left the reserve in 1969 to go work in Weyburn and transferred to Regina to work at the Hospital Laundry Services where she retired. She then went on to work at the First Nations University of Canada and Saskatchewan Polytech as an Elder. She was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish and an AA member.

Audrey is survived by her children Joe (Joyce) of Saskatoon; Sherry (John); Rob (Lynette); Marion of Regina; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Ivan; four granddaughters Marissa, Amanda, Shawna and Janay. She was the last of her generation and will be missed dearly.

A Mass will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish, 5020 7th Avenue, Regina, SK at 2:00 p.m. A Traditional Wake will follow at the First Nations University of Canada, 1 First Nations Way, Regina, SK at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place at the First Nations University of Canada, on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue, Regina, SK
