Brooklyn passed away at the Regina General Hospital with his family by his side and was predeceased by his loving wife, Joanne Anderson in 2012. Born on May 11, 1944, he is the eldest of six children to Thomas and Frances Anderson, who predeceased him. He was raised on the family farm in the Wide Awake district, North of Indian Head, Saskatchewan.
Marrying Joanne in 1963, he had a mixed farm North of Indian Head for over 50 years. During that time, he supported his children in 4-H activities, raising pure-bred polled Herefords and was a regular at Agribition and the Farm Progress Show. He loved connecting with others and was inspired to make a difference where he lived. With a keen interest in politics, he spent 14 years as Reeve for the R.M. of Indian Head.
But his true love was for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to hear from them and to spoil them whenever they visited. Taking them for tractor rides, telling stories, and giving them little gifts of things he knew they would like. He enjoyed the many wiener roasts and laughs that were had.
For most of his adult life, Brooklyn was deeply involved with the Freemasons and he took great pleasure in being a distinguished member of the Masonic Lodge.
Known for his strength and determination, he overcame prostate cancer and battled various ailments after being diagnosed with Lymphedema. His departure has left an immense void in our lives that is indescribable, but his memory will forever be cherished and celebrated by those who knew him. He will be remembered and missed by his children: Robert (Catherine) Anderson, Debbie (Tim) Harrop, Donna Anderson, Russell (Dianne) Anderson, and Dailene (Shannon) Kells; his many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jeff, Rochelle (Tommy, Archer), Danielle (Alec, Lennan), Brooklyn A.J. and Kateryna (Sofia, Meela), Dalton (Carter), Sydney, Kelsey, and Christopher; and his siblings Cheryl, Elaine (Bob), Diane (Ben), and Les (Linda); and predeceased brother Emerald (Maureen).
The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK with a brief social to follow. A private Interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lymphedema Association of Saskatchewan, 1354 Willowgrove Terrace Saskatoon, SK S7W 0A9, in memory of Brooklyn.
