

Don was born on the farm near Chelan, SK, in 1938. He attended school in Chelan and Porcupine Plain. After Don graduated from high school in 1956, he started working with SaskPower doing line construction in the Estevan area. In 1961, he switched to the gas division of SaskPower (SaskEnergy) working in various locations around the province. He remained in their employ until his retirement in 1993, in Lumsden, SK.
Don got his private pilot license while in Estevan in 1959. He married Olga Kozak on October 6, 1962, in Melfort, SK, after impressing her with a plane ride on their first date. Don and Ollie enjoyed many adventures throughout their life together such as travelling internationally, fishing, camping, casino trips and visiting family and friends across Western Canada.
Don had numerous hobbies including collecting antiques, guns and coins. He built model airplanes from wood and spent many hours with his model trains. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Dan and Lena Yaremko and his sister Tanyss Peddie. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ollie. He will be missed by his children, Doug (Norine) and Linda Chyz and also by his grandchildren, Jordan (Alyssa), Daylen (Ian), Kelten and Marisa.
A private family memorial will be held on October 31, 2025.
