

Doug was born in Regina, SK on January 14th, 1950, and lived in Regina until 2012 when he relocated to Montmartre, SK, to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He attended school at Sacred Heart School, graduated from Archbishop O'Neill High School, and later attended the University of Regina. Doug worked for the Government of Saskatchewan for 37 ½ years. His career started with the Department of Health, he then went on to positions in the Department of Justice & Attorney General and the Office of the Provincial Auditor, before returning to the Department of Justice where he became the Manager of Accounting. When he retired, he was the Internal Auditor for the Ministry of Justice and Corrections & Public Safety. He continued to work with the Department of Justice on a contractual basis for several years after retirement. Doug married the love of his life Linda in 1972. Together they raised their children Penny born in 1973 and Andrew born in 1982.
Doug is predeceased by his Parents, Andy & Alice Vancha (nee Dundas); sister Linda Vancha; In-laws Dave and Dorthy Grandison; and many aunts and uncles.
Doug is survived by his wife of 51 years Linda Vancha (nee Grandison); children Penny (Edward) Kotylak, and Andrew Vancha; Grandchildren David, Amanda (Jonathon) Kress, Kayla (Matthew) Rey, Jordon Kotylak; Great Grandchildren Xavier Vindevoghel, Joshua Coates, Hadley Rey, Vance Kress, Isabel Kress, Knox Rey, Wesley Kress; brother Darryl Vancha; sister-in-law Donna (Brad) Grandison; other siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors of 6F & MICU – General Hospital, Dr. Prasad and nurses and staff of the Dialysis Unit, and Nurses Care aids and staff of Wascana Rehabilitation unit 2-6 for the great care dad received over the last 11 months. A special thank you to Dr. Samer Iskandar in Indian Head for your care and compassion over the last number of years.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 11:30am in the Chapel at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave, Regina SK. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at 7:00pm at the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place in Montmartre at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doug’s memory to The Kidney Foundation.
