Esther Thomson passed away on Tuesday October 11, 2022. Esther was predeceased by her parents Jim and Amelia Thomson; her grandparents; and her brother Kirk. She was also predeceased by her extraordinary boy Russell Janes. Esther is survived by her forever-loving daughter Rhonda and grandson Kohl who she loved with every ounce of her being. She is also survived by her best friend (sister) of 62 years, Elaine Vandrunen. Esther came from a small family but grew a huge village of friends connected to her who became like a family. Esther will always be remembered as the hardest-working woman and the best waitress Regina ever had. She had the best time working at the Circle J (where she met her soul mate Laurie Elsom), The Pump, the Inntowner, Sunday’s, Caesar’s Palace, the Hungarian Club, and her final 27 years at the Coliseum. She not only met customers but met the most amazing friends. Esther watched babies grow and had babies of their own while working in the industry that she loved. While working at the Pump, she became a radio star being on the Fred and Wiley Show everyday live announcing the lunch specials. Everyone knew Esther. I would like to thank Sharon for the support she gave my mother in taking her to treatment and for their talks. The Allan Blair Centre, for the great attention that they gave her. She said everyday how grateful she was that we have the healthcare we have in this country and how we all need to hang onto it. Esther’s family will have a private ceremony at the cemetery with a celebration of life in the summer for everyone.
