Flore Hillier

December 6, 1929 – May 15, 2025

With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Flore Hillier announces her peaceful passing on May 15, 2025, at the age of 95.

Flore is lovingly remembered by her children: Ivan (Sandra), Irvin (Susan), and Iris (David); her grandchildren: Matthew (Amelia), Joshua (Kayla), Nicole (Ryan), Tara (David), Jerad, Clayton (Jayna), Jennifer (Derrick), Kelsey and Kayla (Kala); and her seventeen cherished great-grandchildren: Elias, Franklin, Henry, Harper, Harlow, Hayes, Ava, Adley, Jack, Louie, Brooke, Alyssa, Samantha, Rhett, Kingsley, Kaylee and Carson; and sister-in-law Ruth Matthews.

She is predeceased by her parents John and Louise Wark, her beloved husband John “Jack” Hillier, her sister Helen Andrews, numerous in-laws and grandsons Colby Cote Hillier and John Lang.

Born on December 6, 1929, Flore was raised on the family farm in the Hazelwood district, North of Southey, Saskatchewan—a place that would remain close to her heart throughout her life. A proud tomboy in her youth, she could often be found playing ball with the boys and enjoying the wide-open spaces of rural life. On October 25, 1952, she married the love of her life, Jack, in Cupar. Together they made their home just across the road from the Wark family homestead, where they started their family—welcoming Ivan in 1953, Irvin in 1956, and Iris in 1960.

In the years that followed, Flore and Jack moved to the Wark homestead and raised their children there until relocating to Southey in 1974.

Whether at the ball diamonds in the summer or at the Southey hockey rink in the winter, Flore and Jack were constants—cheering on their grandkids, supporting all the local youth and Southey Marlins.

Flore volunteered her time. For decades, she was a member of the Hazelwood Ladies Club and was also a member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Flore will be remembered for her social personality, her easygoing spirit, and her deep love for her community and family. She lived each day with a relaxed joy, reminding all around her to enjoy the moment.
