Harvey peacefully went to be with his Lord at Pasqua Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit on Monday, November 25, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer and numerous complications. He spent most of the last 16 months in and out of the Pasqua Hospital, General Hospital, William Booth Care Home and Wascana Centre. The highlight of this time was 10 weeks at home this summer. Harvey was born on December 26, 1933, in Estevan, SK. He married Marilyn MacKenzie on June 12, 1953, and they established their home in Regina, SK. Harvey worked for the Regina Transit Service and loved the people he served. He also worked a number of part-time jobs to support and provide the extras for his family. After retiring, Harvey and Marilyn took great joy in caring for friends, family and enjoying grandkids and great grandkids. All through Harvey’s life, music was a passion: playing piano, organ, saxophone or whatever else he picked up. He sang in trios, quartets, church choir and the Regina Male Voice Choir and enjoyed Southern Gospel Concerts. The last 16 months were a crazy journey with many bumps in the road. All through this time, his attitude remained positive and he enjoyed kidding and joking around with his caregivers. He was quick to express thanks and appreciation to all. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the many that cared for Harvey during this journey. Harvey will be lovingly remembered by Marilyn, his wife of 60 years; his children: Bryan (Debbie) Saskatoon, Brent (Janet) Winnipeg, Brenda (Steve Anderson) Great Falls, Montana. Grandchildren: Jaci (Will Brown), Marci (Dan Verhaeghe), Derek (Angie), Kyla (Dustin Tracy), Jaden Pretzlaw, Jodi, Mauri Pretzlaw, Eric, Stacey and ten Great Grandchildren.
