It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isabella Moats. She is predeceased by her parents Herbert and Catherine Message; brother-in-law Douglas Padfield; son-in-law David MacDermott; husband Leroy Moats; and second husband Hugh Sanderson. She held her family dear and is survived by her brother Jim (Florence) Message; sister Florence Padfield; daughter Catherine (Brian) Drew and their children, Michelle (David) Parker and their children Ashley and Riley, Petrea (Alan) McCoy and their children Eva and Finn, Travis (Christine) Drew and their children Kayla, Corwin, and Payton; daughter Shirley Moats and her son Michael Moats; daughter Sheila MacDermott and her son Colin MacDermott; daughter Sharon MacDermott (Chris Wood) and their children Oren and Malcolm; and daughter Elaine (Barry) Good; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Isabella was raised on the family farm in her beloved “Dirt Hills” near Ormiston. It fostered a love of farming, animals and growing plants, that she carried all of her days. She married Leroy Moats and moved to their mixed farm near Gray. Her greatest pleasure was raising their 4 daughters, watching them grow and develop, then her grand and great grand children.
Her deep and abiding faith carried her through the tough times. She was a member of the UCW at Gray and later Wesley United Church in Regina. She was treasurer for the Regina Presbyterial UCW for many years. She taught Sunday School and led the Explorer’s Club. She helped with 4-H and was treasurer for the Saskatchewan Shorthorn Ladies Association.
Her marriage to Hugh Sanderson in 1989 brought a move to Regina along with her African violet collection; membership in the Orchid Society; and square dancing with the Wilcox and Wesley Whirlers Square Dance Clubs.
Isabella loved cooking and was still trying new recipes until the last few years of her life. In addition to sewing and knitting for her family, she pursued an amazing range of crafts from cake decorating, wheat weaving, crochet, embroidery, paper tole to stained glass.
A service of thanksgiving for Isabella’s life will be held at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale St, Regina, SK on Friday April 8, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.
