She was born on June 29, 1952 in Cupar, SK and grew up on a farm, enjoying many carefree activities. She attended the country school, Kilshanig, for grade one - getting there with a horse and cutter and attended Cupar school for the remaining years. She was a very good student and was involved in many activities. Jane reached second level theory class with the Royal Conservatory of Music. After high school, Jane completed her course at Reliance Business College and started work at Trans Canada Freezers. She married Gaza Fazakas on June 29, 1973. She then began working for Ken Reed at United Dominions and then at Reed Ford Tractor. She travelled with different friends and neighbors to many places including New York, Jamaica, Cuba, Acapulco, Las Vegas, Yellowstone, and both Disney sites, among others and cruised the Caribbean Islands. Jane also went to Quebec and China with friends, and to Europe and Israel with mom. Jane cared for our mom in mom’s final years and was helping Judy to remain independent. Jane was extremely kind and was a true and loyal friend. Some of Jane’s happiest times were spent golfing with her friends, Carol and Angela. Jane loved her animals and her yardwork. She was very artistic and great at many crafts including crocheting, knitting, pysanka, cake decorating, making candles, floral arranging and sewing drapery. She also played the piano and accordion. Jane embraced Tai Chi and enrolled in many Adult Learning classes including a Laughter class, Belly Dancing, Philosophy and Psychology classes, among others. Jane always made close friends wherever she worked or lived and kept up those friendships.
Jane was predeceased by her parents Walter and Helen Lanoway (nee Benesh); parents- in- law Gaza Sr. and Anne Fazakas; friends Carol and Arlene; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She leaves to mourn her sisters Judy and Milly Lanoway; her aunts Inez, Mary and Beryl Benesh and Helen Lanoway; numerous cousins; and her good friends Joan, Lauren, Olga, Sandy, Angela, Monie and Lois. Jane’s death was so sudden and so sad but we take comfort in knowing that her last hours were spent laughing and playing cards with Milly.
The Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regina Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
