

Joan McInally passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 6, 2026. Born on October 28, 1948, in what she lovingly called “Bonnie Scotland,” Joan carried the warmth, wit, and spirit of her homeland with her throughout her life.
Known for her vibrant personality and zest for life, Joan embraced each day with joy, laughter, and a deep love for those around her. She had a generous heart and a remarkable talent for knitting, creating beautiful pieces for her family as well as for numerous charitable causes. Her quick wit and infectious sense of humor brought warmth and laughter to every gathering, leaving lasting memories with all who knew her.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband Frank; her children Frank (Jeanniene), Heather (Grant) and Jeannine; and her cherished grandchildren, Zachary (Kaitlyn) and their children, Barrett and Margot; Larissa, Ryan, Joshua, Kirsten, and Ashlyn. She is also survived by her siblings, Thomas (Margaret), Helen (Jimmy), Susan (Pat), George (Patricia), Ian(Cindy), Colin(Tracy), Alan (Marion). Joan was a devoted aunt and is lovingly remembered by her surviving nieces and nephews: Paul, Terry Kara, Jennifer, Allison, Andrew, Laura, Angela, Ashley, Erika, Christine, Kelly, Bevan, Megan, Eric, Carly, Abby, Kathryn, Colin and Conner; as well as her many beloved grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews, all of whom were deeply treasured by her. Joan remained close to her extended family in Scotland and abroad, holding those connections dear throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth Smith; her sisters, Lynn and Karen; her sister-in-law, Margaret; and her beloved nephews, Cole, Allistar, Alan, and Shaun.
Joan lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for her strength, generosity, warmth, and the boundless love she shared so freely. She brought joy, laughter, and comfort wherever she went and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East.
