Joseph Emanuel Craig was born on January 25, 1946 to Phedora Johnson and Selvin Craig in Central Village, Jamaica. “Craig” or “Erden” as he was called by his family and friends was very quiet, loving and private. He graduated from Barracks High School in Spanish Town, Jamaica. After graduation he was employed by Home Electric, Inc., where he worked as an Electronics and Electrical Technician. Craig was a hard worker and with this demanding trade under his belt he would do side jobs for neighbors and others fixing or restoring television sets, radios, refrigerators, stereos, and other home electronics systems. Craig believed in education and the importance of having a relationship with God. He stressed education to his children every opportunity he got. Though he was not a frequent visitor to church he would ensure that Michael made it to church on Sundays. At an early age Craig found enjoyment in racehorses, playing golf and cricket. In 1989, Craig moved to Canada to be with the love of his life, Avis. When Craig arrived he had high hopes of continuing to apply his trade as a technician, however with changes in the industry it was challenging for him to continue to do the work that he loved. As time went on he developed a new fondness for working with seniors in a local nursing home in Regina. Over the years working at Pioneer Village, he developed deep and personal bonds with his many colleagues. He was known for giving everyone a special nickname that only he would call them -- he was loved by everyone. He was a part of a trio friendship -- Craig, the late Clemston Spencer, and the late Arthur Smith, all found comfort in memories of growing up in Jamaica, and the jokes and laughter kept them going for nearly 30 years in Regina. In August 2017, Craig gave his life to the Lord and was a member of Bethlehem Apostolic Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Selvin Craig. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Avis “Peggy” Craig, his mother Phedora Johnson, and sister Winona Craig-Bromfield. His Children: Michael, Patrick, Kevin, Megan, Bridgette, Traciann, Marlon, Heidi and Lasonja; his stepdaughters Keishia and Niki; treasured grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends. He will be greatly missed!
