Marco Antonio Fuentes

It is with profound sadness the Fuentes family announces the passing of Marco Antonio Fuentes Torres, on December 2nd, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family as he peacefully passed. Born on July 11th, 1960, in Arica, Chile. In 1977, his parents, and 2 siblings arrived in Regina, Sk. to begin a new life.

After landing in Regina, Marco attended Thompson School to learn English for 2 weeks. Then completed high school at Central Collegiate. Following this, he pursued his Electronic Technician degree at Moose Jaw's SIAST. His skills lead him to a successful career in electronic repairs. As years passed, his work-ethics & knowledge were recognized in that for the past number of years, lead a team as the Manager Technician for the Regina & Moose Jaw Casinos. Marco was so grateful for the opportunities Canada had given him and his family to thrive.

Marco contributed to numerous soccer teams, where he was able to win championships throughout the province & travel in Canada to play 'the beautiful game'. He also coached youth men's teams over the years. Many, whom today, still remember the mentorship Marco provided for them. Once he retired from soccer, he took up running & received multiple medals for competing in 5km, 10km, or 15km runs, including runs he did in his home land Chile.

Over the past 43 years, Marco demonstrated how devoted he was to his Chilean heritage. Proudly took the time to educate, direct a Spanish school for those wanting to learn the language. He'd sponsor & house dance troops from Chile and was the 'dough master' for the infinite number of empanadas to be made. He wanted Regina & the province to celebrate the traditions from his beloved country during its annual Mosaic.

Marco will be sadly missed by his Children Nicolas Fuentes (Rowelyn), Ana-Maria Loyola (Claudio, granddaughter Valentina). His companion Hillarie Winslow. Marco Parents Juan and Amalia Fuentes. Brother Juan Fuentes (Jaqueline) Niece Tania Fuentes (Andre, Tiago) Niece Natalia Fuentes (Paul, Luca).
