Marlene Blahut-Culbert was welcomed into God’s house on June 29, 2014. She lived her life in the presence of God until the age of 74 years. She was a devoted wife, and cherished her family time with her children and play time with her grandchildren. She was active in her community as a member of the Catholic Woman’s League, a board member for Birthright, and a dedicated volunteer at the Marian Centre.Marlene was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Blahut, parents Thelma & Paul Yuryk, step mother Lillian Yuryk, and brother Christopher Yuryk. Marlene was born in 1939 in Winnipeg, Man. and at two years of age moved to Toronto, Ont. where she lived until she was 36. Also, in that time she married Edward, and had two lovely children, Daryl (now 53) and Jenny (now 51). In 1975, Marlene and Edward moved to Regina, SK, where shortly upon arrival had Christine (now 38). Marlene spent 28 of her working years dedicated to Reitmans Ladies Wear as a District Sales Manager and retired in 2000. In 1985, Marlene grieved the loss of her first husband, Edward Blahut. Marlene later remarried to Archie Culbert, and together they recently celebrated 23 years of marriage. The most important things in Marlene’s life were faith, family, friends and nurturing her flowers. Nothing made Marlene happier then attending Sunday mass with her children, and playing silly games or crafting with her grandchildren. Marlene will be missed by her husband, Archie; children, Daryl (Orysia), Jenny (Lonnie), Christine (Trent); sisters Shirley (Jack), Debbie (Ron), Tracy (Michael); brother-in-law Charles (Joyce); grandchildren, Tanya (Ryan), Andrea (Zeyad), Amber (Sam), Selina, Roman, Greyson, great grandson Christian, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Marlene asked that we thank Dr. Chalchal, nurse John, Dr. Joe Michael, the Allen Blair Clinic nurses and volunteers, and The Grace Hospice doctors, and nurses for their tireless care and compassion. Also, she would like to thank all of her close friends, and members of the CWL at St. Martin de Porres parish: “your support and love and has meant so much to me in this chapter of my life.”In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you continue Marlene’s support of Birthright by sending donations to: Birthright, P.O.
