Mary Barlishen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of MARY BARLISHEN on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Mary passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 90 years. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Barlishen; her daughter Darlene Mergaert; parents John & Julia Zayat; sisters Emily, Anne, & Olga; and brothers Mike & Steve. She is survived by her daughter Delores and son-in-law Ron Rybak as well as granddaughter Noelle Seidlikoski; son-in-law Bud Mergaert and grandchildren Carolyn (Trevor), Kimberly, and Kevin (Tara) Mergaert; sisters Alice (Ab), Joyce, and Kathy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Mary was a social butterfly and enjoyed numerous gatherings with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and baker, was exceptional with sewing, embroidery and crocheting and had a green thumb that nurtured the heartiest garden and most beautiful flower beds in the neighborhood. Mary was an incredibly kind and generous woman who opened her heart and her home to those she cared for. She will forever be in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate nurses and staff at the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, Unit 3D of the Pasqua Hospital, and Country Lane Care Home for their assistance and care.
