
Mary Louise Gebert passed away peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Mary was predeceased by Emil, her loving husband of 61 years. Mary is lovingly remembered by daughters: Terry (Glenn) Leitner and their children, Ricki (Darcy) Morrison, Kym Duthie, Casey Buxton; Denise (Keith) Swallow and their children, Richard (Tracey Smith), Lisa, Jennifer (Todd) Rennebohm, Robert (Amber Hamilton); Debbie (Mike) Probe and their children, Ryan, Greg; son Brian and his children Derek, Teri (Rick) Pitzel; 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; her sisters Angela (Bill) Radych, Anne Winniski, Kathy (Orest) Kotylak, Helen (Lionel) Bolen; brothers Nick (Bernice) Verklan, Bill (Helen) Olinik, John (Janice) Olinik; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sophie Verklan, Elsie (Art) Baudais, Rose Nelson, Joe (Hazel) Gebert, Mary (Gordon) Henry, Ed (Freda) Gebert, Betty (Keith) Bird, Phil (Sharron) Gebert, James (Bernie) Gebert; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John & Marie Verklan and John & Mary Olinik; daughter-in-law, Darlene Gebert; brothers, John, Dan and Tony (Delores) Verklan; sister Mary (Reg) Cybulski; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Winniski, Vicky Olinik, John Gebert, Wendell (Millie) Gebert and Reg Nelson. Mary was born on the family homestead near Bladworth, SK on August 15, 1924. At a young age, Mary and her siblings were placed in the Ituna Orphanage. At the age of 12, Mary became part of the loving family of John & Mary Olinik of Kelliher. She attended Normal School and in September 1944 went to teach at Carman Silva School near Kayville where she met Emil. They were married in August, 1945. They settled first in Regina and then moved to Westbend, SK. In 1949, the family returned to Regina. Mary was a very active member of Sacred Heart and Christ the King Parishes. She was a life long member of the CWL. She loved baking, gardening, needlework, travelling, camping with family and friends, playing cards and cheering on her beloved Roughriders. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 5 in the Lee Funeral Chapel, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 3239 Garnet Street with Fr. Tonny Dizy officiating. Interment at Riverside Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
