Patrick Leonard Portras

After travelling many roads and well-worn paths in his life, with a few detours, Patrick (Pat) Leonard Portras picked up his last fare early Friday morning at the age of 62. He is now in the loving hands of his many Metis ancestors including his parents Damase (Dan) and Betty; brothers Mike and Ed and the family who chose him as their own, Robert and Rollande Tournier and brother Dennis. He leaves his wife Marlene and their son Robert; his sons Donovan, Jason (Pauline and their children Krystyna and Phoenix), Daniel (Cara and their children Lance, Kyle, Jordan, Danielle, Josh, Kylie and Liam), Greggory and their mother Donna. He is also fondly remembered by his brother Daniehl (Ina and their children Rea and Kear), nieces Tammy and Crystal, nephew Dennis and their mother Terri, his sisters Georgina (Simon), Shirley, Deb, Wendy (Terry) and Barb and his extended family as well as Marlene’s family and Donna’s family. He was a complicated man who, in working through his own addictions, found compassion and generosity for those walking in the same or similar paths. In touching their lives, they in turn touched his. His last few years were very difficult, complicated by many health issues. The family would like to thank his caregivers at Parkside, Wascana and hemo-dialysis and especially Dr. Prasad. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to organizations which held special meaning for Pat, in particular Ranch Ehrlo, Canadian Diabetes Association or in Pat’s honour buy someone less fortunate a coffee and donut. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK. Cremation will follow.
