It is with deep sadness in our hearts to announce the sudden passing of Shaun Patrick Doherty in his home on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the young age of 35. He was born in the Saskatoon City Hospital on May 16, 1982 to Tom and Jackie Doherty. Shaun is survived by his fiancée of two years, Pauline Gabriel and four children, Mackenzie, Victoria, Elizabeth and Richard; his mom Jackie and stepdad Ronnie; sister Leanne (Dean) Beddie, Hailey, Julianne and Dylan of Invermere, BC; brother Kyle Doherty (Mikayla) and Meadow of Gull Lake, SK; sister Kerri (Brenden) Utke and Zidane of Swift Current, SK; brother Adam (Erin) Bradley of Calgary, AB; sister Dallas (Niels) Whitbraad and brother Tyler (Devin) Doherty, both of Saskatoon, SK. He is also survived by his grandmothers Lynne Cooke and Ethel Bradley; stepmom Marg Jack as well as many cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. Shaun was predeceased by his dad Tom Doherty; grandparents, Ralph Cooke, Frank and Mary Doherty, and Gene Bradley; and his uncle Cameron.
Shaun completed high school in Holdfast, SK, then attended SIAST for a short time but decided it was not for him. He then went to work at a few different places in Medicine Hat, Saskatoon, Swift Current, before ending up in Regina. Shaun was a "great big guy" with a heart to match. His greatest loves were getting together for annual water balloon fights, and the annual "who is tougher contest" with his brother Kyle. Shaun enjoyed camping and fishing, but his passion was all the little kids he could get down and play with on the floor, on the ground, anywhere. Shaun was their coloring book, their jumping pad, their jungle gym, their horse to ride. Nothing put a bigger smile on his face. He loved FozzyFest in Lake Koocanoosa BC with Adam.
We will lay Shaun to rest in the Gull Lake Cemetery on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. All are invited to attend. Shaun's cousin Tommy LaPlante will officiate the service. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Shaun may do so to Saskatchewan Mental Health and Addictions Services, Suite 156, 122 3 Ave N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Ave Unit 26.
