Born in 1962 to Elizabeth Sayer and George Desjarlais in Regina. Shirley was a caring soul. She always worried about others before herself. She loved a good joke as much as a corny one just ask Jesse or Dave. Her laugh will forever be missed. She loved music and tearing up the dance floor, swinging and two stepping the night away. Her favorite colour was black. Her cake of choice was black forest cake, but she made the best specialized homemade cakes for all of us. She loved the outdoors, bonfires in the yard, and camping was a yearly tradition. She had a bit of a green thumb and cared for plants, some of which we still have after 30 plus years. She collected various figurines like dancing solar lights, glass animals, ash trays, and the odd garden gnome. Some of her favorite shows were of course the news for the day, The Simpsons, Big Bang Theory, Jeopardy! She was a wiz at Wheel of Fortune and enjoyed thriller/horror flicks. Oh and don't touch the TV or the VCR when Days of Our Lives is recording or ELSE!!!
Her strength throughout life was immeasurable, she was a fighter through and through, a survivor of many things that would have taken anyone else out. She was so strong and amazing. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, all 20 plus of them. She lived for us. She was a fan of all beasts, hairless or not. She did have a soft spot for Big Hairy Monsters like her dog Bear, which is why her and Dave were inseparable, making her favorite past time spending her evenings with her hubby and love of her life Dave/Dad/Pops/Papi
A celebration of life will be held at the family home
