March 6, 1922 – October 16, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Thornton (Carl) at the age of 91 years. Dad was raised in the Wilcox area where he farmed with his dad and brothers, and where he attended school. The family moved to Zehner and then into Regina in 1947. He found work with the Grey Nuns Hospital where he met and married Florence in 1949. In order to make a better living and care for his family, he worked at numerous jobs including Dairy Producers, CN Rail and finally as a meter repair man at Sask Power until he retired after 32 years in 1983. He is survived by his loving wife Florence and 4 children Ken (Lois, children Pam & Trevor), daughters Shirley (John, children Penny & Barry), Darlene (Darrell, children Todd, Michael & Kristine) and Bev (Don, children Steven, Mark & Ryan). He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Pioneer Village. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 10:00am at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK with reception to follow. Interment will be held at Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave W #1600, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8.
