Velma passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the age of 68. A beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother journeyed into the Spirit World, to be welcomed there by family, friends, and relatives in spirit. Velma leaves to mourn, her husband, Andrew Goodfeather; daughters: Leanne (Anthony), Kimberley (James), Shannon, Natalie, Maureen & Annette (Rodger); sons: Tim Yuziccappi, Kevin & Lyle Goodfeather; sisters Sybil Bear and Janet (Wilson) Brown; sisters-in-law Betty Goodfeather & Theresa Isnana; brothers Robert Tawiyaka & Arthur Bear; grandchildren: Gordon, Jesse & Joel Brown, Nicholas & Jasmine Crant, Madison & Zachary Ironeagle; and Carter Goodfeather; adopted daughter Stephanie Cavers; and many other special family, friends and relatives Velma held near and dear to her heart. Velma was predeceased by her son Tyler Goodfeather; mother-in-law Catherine Goodfeather; maternal grandparents Antoine & Annette Tawiyaka; parents Thomas & Gladys Bear; brother Nelson Bear; sisters Loretta & Patricia Bear; granddaughters Dakota Goodfeather & Juliette Yuzicappi; and great grandsons Antoine & Kieran Yuzicappi. Thank you to Jamie Hamilton and Nadine Morris FQHTC Homecare, Dr. Saunders, Standing Buffalo Chief & Council and Community members, and all the medical staff for their compassionate and loving care of our loved one. Traditional Wake will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 4:00pm and the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:00am – both at the Standing Buffalo School Gymnasium.
