

Bessie Mae-Collins Kinnard, age 73 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at her home in Seattle. Bessie was born in Newellton, Louisiana on October 14, 1940 to William and Georgia Collins. She graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School in St Josesph, Louisiana. After graduating in May of 1958, Bessie moved to Seattle to live with relatives and attended Edison Technical College (now Seattle Community College). Bessie is survived by her husband of fifty three years Robert Kinnard, Jr., and her two children, Gregory and Marshon (Brenda) Kinnard, Grandson, Andre Salas and Cherished great-granddaughter, Maya Salas.
Bessie is also remembered in the hearts of siblings, four brothers, William (Mona) Collins, and Albert Collins, Seattle, WA, Eddie (Rosie) Collins, Bellevue, WA, Nathaniel (Lydia) Collins of Renton, Wa and three sisters, Brenda McCray, Tacoma, Wa, Dorothy (Amos) Brown Houston, Texas and Annie Stacker (Freddie) Waterproof, La and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents William and Georgia Collins and her brother Bennie Collins.
