Douglas Dean Cavenaugh of Seattle died March 23, 2017 at his home. Doug was born March 17, 1934 in DeSmet, South Dakota to William Cavanaugh and Belle (Brekke) Cavanaugh. He enlisted in the Navy on March 20, 1952 and served until June 28, 1971. Upon retiring from the Navy he worked for Blue Water Marine and then ended his working career retiring from Boeing. He married Betty, his beloved wife on April 6, 1962. He helped to raise her three children Howard Peterson, Sandra Doubek and Georgean Moore. They had two grandchildren Daniel C. Peterson and Violet Peterson. Doug enjoyed his family and friends, everything to do with hunting and fishing, traveling, eating out and spoiling his "canine" little Alanda.
Survivors include: Sandra Doubek, Georgean and Michael Moore, Violet Peterson and his many nieces and nephews. Sadly he was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, grandson and his 8 siblings.
