Jean was born May 1, 1934 in North Dakota. She lost her battle with cancer and died, Friday, April 23, 2021, at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA.
Jean is survived by her older brother Hugh, younger brother Robert, son Wade (wife, Liz), grandchildren, Chris and Ally, and daughter, Suzanne (husband, Ken). She was preceded in death by her father Hugh Rodney Putnam, mother Blanche Ebbert, sister Joanne, and husband LeVern.
Jean grew up in Carrington, North Dakota with her family in the historical Putnam House. She loved dancing and met the love of her life, LeVern, at a local community dance.
Soon after graduating high school, she moved to Renton, WA, to marry LeVern in December of 1953, not long after he’d been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in the Korean War. Married for 62 years, they lived in the Renton area and raised a family - son, Wade and daughter Suzanne.
Jean was a devoted to and long-time member of Lakeridge Lutheran Church and Tyee Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, having strong ties to Renton and the surrounding community. Over the course of her career, she worked at Lakeridge Lutheran Church, Lakeridge Elementary and other schools, doing secretarial work. In the late 70’s, she landed a job as an Executive Secretary at The Boeing Co., where she thrived and worked many years before retiring in the early 90’s.
After retirement, she became Grand Secretary of the Grand Chapter of Washington, Order of the Eastern Star, for seven consecutive years and enjoyed traveling extensively with LeVern. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and doing puzzles.
Her family and friends are heartbroken with her loss. If you would like to send flowers for her Memorial Services, she was a long-time, loyal customer of Cugini Florists in Renton. A contribution to Lakeridge Lutheran Church is also a lovely way to honor her memory.
