Joanna was born the 2nd child and only daughter of Jason and Joyce Greer on February 15, 1989 in Renton, Washington. She died peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2014 in Seattle Washington.
She professed faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and held on to that even during the hard times. She regularly attended Renton Bible Church. For many years she desired to become a nurse and be a missionary, starting at Northwest University in Kirkland to pursue this dream. God blessed her with the gift of encouragement. She always encouraged others even as she suffered with her mental issues.
During the summer, she attended Camas Meadows Bible Camp and Young life camp.
She was a talented musician playing piano, flute and percussion. A highlight of her junior year was learning to play the timpani and performing for the school musical.
She was artistic and creative: writing poetry, doing cross stitch, cooking new things, and doing most crafts.
While growing up she played soccer, softball, took piano lessons, did dance, attended Sunday School, AWANA, and youth group. In high school she ran cross country and track. She received the most improved trophy for both cross country and track during her freshman year. She was active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also participated in the sports medicine training program at Hazen High School. She was a member of National Honor Society.
She was very bright and could learn almost anything including anatomy, chemistry, and statistics. She finished high school with honors and attended Northwest University on scholarship.
Her memory was amazing. She excelled at memorizing Bible verses for various church activities, including AWANA. Through AWANA she participated in Bible Quizzing, Game Challenges and earned the Citation Award.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Joan Brooks.
She is survived by her grandparents Jim & Jan Greer and Ron & Gayle Brooks, parents Jason & Joyce, her brothers Jonathan (Kara) and Jeremy (Skye) and niece Charlotte.
She is at peace and completely healed. We picture her smiling and sharing with family who have gone to heaven before her. She no longer suffers from her challenges of her life on earth, but is with her Lord in Heaven.
Her celebration of life service is at Renton Bible Church at 4:30 on Thursday, May 22.
