LeVern Sundet passed away unexpectedly at home, peacefully in his sleep, on August 20, 2015. LeVern, the 2nd of eight children, was born on September 23, 1930, in Maddock, ND, to James Sundet and Petra (Flaskrud). He proudly served his country in the Korean War, from Jan., '52 - Sept., '53, with the 25th Infantry Division, Wolfhounds. When he returned home, he soon married the woman of his dreams, Jean Putnam, a "town girl" from Carrington, ND, on December 23, 1953.
LeVern had a long and distinguished career with The Boeing Company, retiring as a Supervisor after nearly 38 years. He was a jovial man, who enjoyed to play guitar, sing, and dance. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to go camping, hunting, and fishing. He had a strong work ethic and especially enjoyed farming, gardening and wood working. From building houses in the backyard, to making bird houses, he always wanted to keep busy. He also had a passion for Classic American cars; his favorite, a '55 Chevy Bel Air.
LeVern was a patriotic man, who was proud of his Norwegian heritage, being a Lutheran and a Mason of 50 years at St. Andrews Lodge No. 35 F&AM; a Past Patron and 50 member of Tyee Chapter No. 122, O.E.S. in Renton. Above all else, he loved his family. He honored his ancestors who had gone before and he cherished those he saw every day.
LeVern was a friend of Bill W. since December 7, 1980. His home group was Doctor’s Choice in Renton. He was a great friend to many there and he will be missed on Thursday nights.
LeVern is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, of 61 years, his son, Wade (Liz), of Kent, his daughter, Suzanne (Ken) of SeaTac, his grandchildren, Christopher and Allison Sundet. He is also survived by his four brothers and three sisters and their extended families who mourn his loss.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 27 from 11am to 4pm at Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave. NE, Renton WA. Services to be held Friday August 28, 11am at Lakeridge Lutheran Church, 7465 S., 112th Street, Seattle, followed by internment at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington.
