Megan passed away on June 30, 2024, leaving loved ones who know that her spirit will live on in the lessons she imparted and the love she so freely gave to others.
She was born on June 17th, 1981, to Tom and Suzanne Wicklin in Grants Pass, Oregon. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1999 and attended Pacific Lutheran University. After graduating with a degree in business and earning certifications in diplomacy and project management, she worked for several companies in Seattle beginning with Princess Cruises and ending with Providence Health Care. She was proud to help Providence carry out their mission and called her fellow employees her "second family".
She joyfully married Mike Soha in 2016. Riley (6) and Miles (4) soon joined the family and became the center of their lives. Megan worked hard to instill in her children her sense of caring and compassion for others while gifting her children with special adventures, fun craft activities, dance parties and a love of reading. She and Mike dreamed of the places they would travel and the adventures they'd experience as a family, and it was Megan's wish that they carry out those dreams in the future.
Megan loved life. She always jumped at the opportunity to try new things such as driving a race car, running the NYC marathon, climbing O2 in London, competing with Mike in Tough Mudder, landing a plane on a Denali glacier and recently seeing her beloved U2 at the Sphere. She was an Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies football fan, which led to one uncomfortable Saturday each fall, and she enjoyed Seattle Mariners spring training trips. Traveling was always at the top of her bucket list with her favorite places being London, New Zealand, and the Grand Tetons and closer to home, Bend, Oregon. But she loved nothing more than sitting by the fire with her family on a summer evening and reading stories with Riley and Miles.
To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. Her superpower was being a great listener and consequently she had many friends who got to enjoy her quirky sense of humor, her even temperament and her calm demeanor. People in the community benefited from her compassion as she distributed Christmas basket gifts and during COVID reached out to families with special deliveries.
Megan's faith carried her through the last two and half years while dealing with all of the side effects that came with her cancer treatments. She took time to speak with UW medical students about the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and shared her story and advice on the cancer blogs. Her grace and courage shone through, and she was often the one comforting friends and family as her cancer progressed.
Megan is survived by her husband Mike and their two children, Riley and Miles, her parents, Tom and Suzanne Wicklin, her loving father and mother-in-law, Luke and Erica Soha and a large loving extended group of family and friends, who supported her and her family and who will always be surrounded by her love.
Megan's Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parkland, WA., on Sunday, July 21 at 2:00 pm. The service will be followed by a reception. We encourage you to wear bright colors as we celebrate Megan and her love of life.
We honor Megan's legacy by advancing her mission to improve early diagnosis and treatment of all women impacted by ovarian cancer. Donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at tribute.ocrahope.org/megansoha
