Nola was born on June 4, 1943, in Vallejo, California, U.S. Naval Hospital. She passed away on January 16, 2024, in Renton, Washington, at the age of 80.
Nola, beloved as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, fulfilled her heart's desire by meeting Jesus face to face.
Nola was born to Wesley Edward Vaughan and Lois Lorine Vaughan. She had two siblings, Denny and Charlotte, who passed away before her.
Nola leaves behind a cherished legacy:
Five children: Darrel, Ricky, Troy, Donald, Susan
Two stepchildren: David, Richard
14 grandchildren
16 great-grandchildren
She loved each of them dearly and prayed for them by name.
At the age of 50, she married Warren Hassel. He asked her to retire early so they could savor every moment together, and she wholeheartedly agreed. They embraced life to the fullest, cherishing every experience. These years were Nola's most fulfilling, as she deeply loved and cared for him, treasuring their time together. When Warren passed away, Nola was blessed to find another wonderful man, Charles Ratzsch, who remained by her side through her final days, bringing love and joy into her life. In the end, Nola was laid to rest right next to Warren, the man she loved and shared so much of her life with.
Nola was a faithful member of New Life Church since 1979, where she served as a teacher's aide and was one of the first employees at Renton Christian School. Her dedication to the house of God extended to bringing her family as often as possible. Her son, Troy, was introduced to Renton Assembly through these connections and is today the Lead Pastor.
She held dear the memory of her Grandpa Charles Feely, who provided her with moral strength and trust, looking after her like a guardian angel when she was young.
Nola's dream was always to be a nurse. She attended school to overcome challenges and provide for her seven children. She obtained her LPN license, and she was genuinely happy about it.
