

Palma Christine Colis, aged 86, passed away in Renton WA, on Thursday, December 30th. Palma will not be remembered with grief, but will be cherished and loved for a life well lived. Born 11-20-1924 in Northwood, ND to Annie Kjos and Christopher Rustad, she graduated from the State Teachers College in Valley City, ND in 1949. Palma married Merriam Colis 12-26-1953.Palma lived and worked in North Dakota as a teacher at Hatton School and Finely School. Her career began as a teacher in a one-room school house teaching grades K-12. She retired from teaching in 1954 to begin raising a family of her own. She settled in Renton, WA in 1957. Palma will be especially remembered for her devotion to her family, her graceful and courageous approach to life's challenges, and her unflagging energy. Palma's garden was always bountiful, her yard well-tended, and she took great satisfaction in raising her chickens. She made the best cookies, and always had a batch ready for the grandkids. Palma was quick with a hug and a kiss, and slow to show disappointment. She has been the best example of living life to the fullest, and she will always be remembered for her ability to see the positive in every situation. Survivors include daughters; Cynthia and husband Arne, Lynette; and sons Kim, Dan and wife Mary, Ted and wife Paula, Joe, Ben and wife Jessica. Palma had 14 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren- all of whom were the light of her life. Palma also leaves behind 3 siblings. Palma was preceded in death by son Jay and husband Merriam. Services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday January 15th at Greenwood Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton WA 98056. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
