Pauline had an adventurous soul. That is what what led Pauline to leave home at the age of 17 to move across country to Sumner Washington. She finished her high school education at Sumner High School. At Pauline’s insistence, her parents and siblings soon relocated to Washington. .
Pauline believed in hard work. She went to work for the Seattle School District and wore several hats during her 15 year tenure with the District. In 1977, Pauline would meet James D. Thomas, the man she would spend the rest of her life with. Pauline took great pride in her family. When it was time to choose between her family and her career, the choice was simple, family.
Pauline was a natural mother. When need she would seamlessly step into the role of surrogate mother for her two eldest nephews and niece Leon Thornton, Roger Lee Owens Jr and Sherry Owens. Her home was always a hub of activity, with the friends and family always coming and going. It was not unusual for Pauline to have family and/or friends staying with her family. She was always willing to do whatever she could to help a person get on their feet.
Pauline never meet a stranger. Her bubbly out look on life made all of those around her take an instant liking to her.
