Cheryl's letter to Robert
Cheryl’s Tribute to Robert William Shane
I have been thinking of all the memories shared between us and the best way for me to express my feeling is in this letter to you Robert our only son.
Dear Robert,
I will never forget my first outdoor experience with you and your Dad was in North Bend. It was right before hunting season; we were scouting out the area for deer. You loved to walk on the trails looking for deer tracks. Then when you were old enough, you and your dad went hunting and you nailed your first 3 point white tail!
We sure had many interesting outdoor adventures! You loved Campfires and Mountain Dew; from fishing at Pot holes, to our Steele Head Trip on the Columbia River! You were a true fisherman.
We also too a trip to the Hood canal and visited my parents, your grandparents. You and I fished from the big rock down below, we did not catch anything but we sure had fun.
Another one of your favorites was floating down the river in the summer with your Dog by your side, in fact that German shepherd was so faith full he would float along side and walk with you back up river to our house, to make sure you were safe, he never left you side!
You were so excited when you learned how to drive the boat at sun lakes, once you had the hang of it you were pulling your Dad on the tube and your smile well that said it all.
You and I went to a few movies, from Flubber to scary nail biters. You always had good taste in TV shows, whatever it was, it intrigued me. I would interrupt I don’t know how many times, and you would always catch me up, so we could watch together.
You wrote such great comics and stories that you would read to your dad, Tiffany and I. You also loved to make videos; we have a few that we will all treasure for the rest of our lives.
You played all types of sports from Baseball, football, wrestling and karate!
Your real passion was music! You were a talented Drummer and you loved to listen to music, Tool, Metallica, Pink Floyd and many others.
You also enjoyed working in the yard and any time your dad had someone do anything extra, you always reminded him that you were the chief landscaper at our place.
I remember when you came to my rescue when I heard this horrid sound out side, a raccoon but you scared him off just like the Blue heroin who had the nerve to peck at our window he was as tall as me and you scared him off too!
You let me into your heart the day I married into your family and I respect and honor your mother and your father and sister for letting me share you. You will be forever in my heart and we will never let your memory be forgotten. We love you son!
Love Always,
Cheryl
