

Angeline “Angie" M. Lang, 61, of Rhinelander, died November 21, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with scleroderma. She was born January 15, 1950 in Rhinelander to James (Sully) and Joan Makris. Angie graduated from Rhinelander High School and attended Holy Cross Junior College in Merrill, WI, UW-Eau Claire and Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, WI and received her Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from UW-Stout. Angie married Dale J Lang on October 28, 1978. She was employed by F.W. Woolworth’s in advertising, Rhinelander Catholic Central as an art teacher, worked in the Rhinelander School District and retired from the School District of Crandon as an elementary school counselor. Angie was a member of the National Education Association, Wisconsin School Counselors Association, Nicolet College Equity Resource Bureau Advisory Board and was a WXPR Public Radio volunteer. She enjoyed genealogy, scrap booking, visiting historical sites, doing art projects, cooking, needlepoint and fishing.
Angie is survived by her husband, Dale, her mother Joan (Yia Yia) Makris; her sisters Mary (Gordy) Walkush, Victoria (Brock) Gehrig and Alexandria (Bessie) Doering, all of Rhinelander; Christine (Kurt) Carman of Brooklyn Park, MN and her brother Bill (Sue) Makris of Rhinelander; nieces and nephews Melissa and Andrea Walkush, Brett and Katrina Gehrig, Jason (Samantha) and Troy (Jill) Doering, Nicholas and Christopher Carman, Jim, Chris (Ali), and Michael Makris; great nieces and nephews Alexandria and Andrew Doering; and her very special friend/sister Nina Clark. She was preceded in death by her father.
A Greek Orthodox funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church with Father Peter Pappademetriou officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home. There has been a memorial established in Angie’s name and may be directed to the family and will be donated to The Scleroderma Foundation, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and St. Andrew’s Orthodox Chapel.
