Daniel Raymond Barnes

Daniel Raymond Barnes passed away October 1, 2011, at the age of 74. He was born September 10, 1937 in Posen, Illinois. After marrying Sandra Jarvis, they eventually settled in Blue Island, Il where he worked as a switchman on the railroad. At one point, he also owned a successful pet shop for several years. He acted as secretary/treasurer and local chairman for his local United Transportation Union. He enjoyed having a good time, fishing, bowling, golfing, softball and going to the casino. Danny was a kind, loving man who loved his family above all else. Loving the outdoors, he retired in 1995 to Newbold, Wisconsin where he served as a volunteer and fire inspector for the Newbold Fire Department. He loved music and after retiring, sang with the Lakeland Barbershop Chorus. Danny was a witty man who loved to tell stories and jokes to make people laugh. Danny married Amber McIntyre in 2006 after Sandra’s death in 2004. They were a happy couple sharing many of the same interests and just enjoyed being together.

Danny is survived by his wife Amber, a son and two daughters. Gwen (John)Steenhoven, of Portage Michigan, Edmund (Michelle)Barnes of Oak Forest, IL, and Julie (Brian)Weston of Hyde Park, NY, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, seven stepchildren, Linda, Sam, Marcie, Kathy, Cindy, Michele and Jeff, eleven step grandchildren, a sister Sharlene (Frank) VanBuren of Santee, CA and a brother Michael (Maureen) Munn of Ettrick, WI. He was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara DeBenke and Marlene Sarno.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Grove Community Church with Pastor Darrell Boomer officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Hildebrand-Russ Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and also on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Newbold Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.
