away peacefully in his sleep on May 28th, May 2020 at the age of 95. Born October 14, 1924 in
Wheaton, IL, he was the son of the late Oliver and Edna Bolms. Art was the fifth of six
children, all preceding him in death. He spent his childhood years with his family in Oak Park, IL
where he graduated from high school.
A World War II veteran, and purple heart recipient, Art was trained at Fort Riley and fought bravely in Europe, before returning to attend Earlham College in Richmond, IN on his G.I. bill. While in college, he met his sweetheart Elsa Ravinet. They married on August 28, 1949 and celebrated 69 1/2 years together. Art graduated in 1950 with a degree in economics. He worked for Western Southern Life Insurance for 35 years, retiring as Regional Vice President of the company. The company moved him and his wife to
Cincinnati, OH in 1960. It was there that they adopted a little girl in 1962 and another in 1964.
Art's company sent him and the family to Dallas, Texas in 1968.
Art and Elsa continued to raise their little girls in Dallas until the girls were grown with kids of their own and 37 years later, would move to Allen TX to be near their two daughters and families. Art retired from Western Southern and joined his former business colleague and friend Ray Spinner at Spinner the Printer where he worked another 10 years helping to grow the business. Art stayed active playing golf,
enjoying family, friends, dining out and playing card games. In 2018, after having resided in
Texas for 50 years, Art and Elsa moved to Dunedin Florida to live with their daughter Missy who
had moved there from Texas. In Florida, Art enjoyed strolling with his daughters around the
neighborhood in his motorized chair, enjoying the lake view from his sunroom and patio, going
outside on the patio to hand feed numerous birds such as wood storks, ibises, seagulls,
pelicans and more. He loved dining out, going to church, and to the VFW to watch and listen to
Karaoke. He was so full of life, truly loved life and lived it to his fullest ability.
Art Bolms touched and impacted the lives of everyone who knew him. We all loved and adored Art Bolms. He was an incredibly amazing man, and the kindest, sweetest, nicest, gentlest and most honorable man
many of us have ever known. He will be greatly missed. Art is preceded in death by his wife,
Elsa Bolms who passed away February 25th, 2019. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law,
