Betty Mildred Newcomb, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the remarkable age of 104½ years. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family. She was born on June 3, 1921, in Independence, Kansas, to James Barry and Safrona Russell.
Betty grew up alongside her siblings - Alma, Ruby, Eula, Bert, Dennis, Rusty, and Blendena - all of whom preceded her in death.
She married Henry Benjamin Newcomb, and together they shared a happy and devoted marriage until Henry’s passing in 1989. Their partnership was a beautiful example of enduring love and commitment.
Above all else, Betty cherished her family. Her children were the lights of her life: Michael (Paula), Doug (Doris), and her daughter Debbie who preceded her in death. She took great joy in watching her family grow and flourish through generations.
Her grandchildren stole all of her heart: Brad (Misty), Heather (Dave), Elizabeth (Jon), Melissa (Larry), Erin (Gunnar, who preceded her in death), Brian (who also preceded her in death), and Russell. She was equally proud of her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Taylor, Blake, Corinne, Ethan, Thomas, Kyle, Reese, Sean, Tristan, Dylan, Aubrey, Joel, Landon, and Ashlyn, each of whom brought her endless happiness and pride.
Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Though small in stature, she had a mighty presence, a warm smile, and a heart full of love. She was always there with encouragement and support, and she often said she had the best family ever. Her legacy will live on through the family she cherished so completely.
