Beverly Jean (Schuch) Wojcik, aged 90, passed away on May 11, 2024, in Richardson, Texas, with her six daughters by her side, surrounding her with love. She was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, on November 28, 1933, to Cyrilla (Gmeinder) Schuch and Charles Schuch. Family and friends knew Beverly by "Bev," "Betz," "BJ," "Mom," and "Oma."
Beverly's parents were hardworking farmers who didn't have many chances to enjoy downtime. Her father was very intrigued by airplanes, and they would often visit the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin. At 19 years old, Beverly headed to Omaha, Nebraska, to attend a travel school with the goal of working for the airlines in a big city. She knew that giving her parents the gift of travel was the least she could do for all the love and sacrifices they provided her.
Beverly completed travel school in January of 1953 and moved to Naperville, Illinois, to live with her friend Ione, who worked at TWA. Shortly after, Beverly was hired to work in the office of Sky Chefs at Chicago Midway Airport. As the story goes, Edwin Wojcik, who also worked at Sky Chefs, saw Beverly walking down a set of stairs at work and told his friend, "I'm going to marry that girl!"
Beverly and Edwin were married in 1954. She worked briefly at United Airlines before committing to the most rewarding career as a wife and mother. She devoted her life to her family and ensured they were loved and cared for. Being a mom of six daughters was definitely chaotic, but you'd never know by Beverly's calm demeanor. She always had time to make the moments memorable and used her creativity to affirm her love with unique birthday decorations, homemade cards, and specialty pillowcases. Later in life, her artist's soul truly came to life in her artwork and in the many pages of heartfelt prose that she wrote. We are grateful for these beautiful gifts that will always remind us of her.
Beverly even found time to be of service to her community by leading a Girl Scout troop, being a member and then the president of the Hospitality Club of El Paso, visiting the elderly and homebound, cleaning the Payson highway, and participating in Catholic Masses as a Eucharist Minister.
Through the years, Edwin was given and took the opportunity to move his family around the country with Sky Chefs living in Dallas, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; and El Paso, Texas. During their time in Phoenix, they fell in love with Arizona and decided to return when Edwin retired. Edwin and Beverly lived in Payson before settling in Prescott. After Edwin passed away in 2013, Beverly lived for four years with her daughter Lynn and son-in-law Bruce in Maryland and for one year with her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Mark before enjoying her final years at the Monarch of Richardson, where she was cared for and loved by her community and the staff.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Wojcik; her parents, Cyrilla and Charles Schuch; her sister, Charlene; and her brother, Bob Schuch.
Beverly will be dearly missed by her daughters, Donna Wojcik (Rick White); Diane Wojcik Sheppard (John); Lynn Wojcik Mrowca (Bruce); Lisa Wojcik Alt (Mark); Eileen Wojcik Reifsnyder (Greg); Elizabeth Wojcik Schmidt (Dave); eight grandchildren, Megan Ragle, Joshua Kyle, Daniel Sheppard, Stephen Sheppard, Eric Alt, Autumn Alt, John Schmidt, and Jace Schmidt; six great-grandchildren, Jackson Ragle, Collins Ragle, Porter Ragle, Brinleigh Pickett, Anthony Schmidt, and Cooper Schmidt; her sister Carol Schuch; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
