Deborah (Debbie) Sharlene Kadane, lovingly known as “Grammy,” unexpectedly transitioned to her eternal home with her Jesus on January 22, 2026, at the age of 74. While our hearts are broken, we also rejoice, because her greatest passion on earth was always Heaven.
There was rarely a day when Grammy did not speak about the rapture or her excitement to see Jesus. She lived with an eternal perspective, waking up with Jesus on her mind and going to bed with Him in her heart. She offered consistent encouragement to her family, and anyone who would listen, sharing sermons, books, and Bible teachings to strengthen their faith.
Grammy’s relationship with Christ was evident throughout her life. She was a faithful member of the Believers Bible Study Class at First Baptist Church until arthritis became debilitating, and she could not attend in person. Even then, she remained steadfast in her faith and faithfully watched Dr. Jeffress every Sunday.
Grammy was also full of joy and fun. As a mother, her children were everything. She valued the importance of making memories that would last multiple lifetimes, passing the joy of roller coasters and junk food at Six Flags, Penny Whistle Park, and The State Fair of Texas, where she rarely missed a year. She also cherished time with her sisters in New Mexico and frequent family reunions.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Preston ‘Grandpa’ and Mary ‘Maca’ Wiley; her sisters, Linda Anderson, Glenda Hill, Lenora Troup, and Susan Eppler; and her grandsons, Cole Kadane and Noah Lester.
She was survived by her beloved husband, Sheffield Asa Kadane Jr, who passed away five days later on January 26, 2026. She is also survived by her sons; Kyle Asa Kadane (Dottie) of Coppell and their children, Abby, Sam, and Joe, Paul Asa Kadane of Dallas and his son, Jackson, Adam Asa Kadane (Karen) of Houston and their children, Claire and Weston, William Isaac Asa Kadane of Dallas and his sons, Pierson and Gray. She is also survived by her stepchildren; Sheffield Asa Kadane III (Shanna) of Frisco and their daughters, Averie and Arden, Stephanie Kadane Heppes (Geoff) of Arlington and their children, Haley Pinard (Sean), Geoff Heppes III, and Karly Martinez (Austin), Debra Kadane Lester (Jason) of Frisco and their sons, Elijah and Jonah
She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Emmy and Addie Pinard and Presley Martinez and a family strengthened by her faith and a testimony shaped by her joyful anticipation of eternity. She will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to Christ, her encouraging spirit, and a life lived fully in preparation for Heaven.
We invite you to celebrate her life at a joint memorial service for both her and her husband, Sheffie, at the Truett Chapel at First Baptist Church in Dallas on February 9 at 1:00 PM, with a reception to follow.
