

Helen Baucum McLaurin passed away peacefully on April 22, 2011 after suffering for many years with Alzheimer's Disease. Helen was born on February 1, 1920 in Jones County, Texas. In 1938 she married Ted McLaurin, and they remained devoted to each other until his death in 2005. For more than 40 years she and Ted made their home in Odessa, Texas where Helen was proud to be an educational secretary, a member of the First United Methodist Church, the DAR, and Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her children, Teddie Lynette Jackson and husband, Jim, and David C. McLaurin and wife, Kathleen, her grandchildren, Leanne Jackson Shipper and husband, Daryl, Troy Jackson and wife, Amy, Sarah McLaurin, Ann McLaurin Reinert and husband, Wesley, Ryan McLaurin and wife, Lindsay, 6 great-grandchildren, Ella Shipper, J. R. Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Preslee Jackson, David McLaurin and Finley Reinert, and her sisters, Alta Gardner, Laverne Diffee, Mary Black and Velma Youngblood and her brother, B. W. Baucum. The family wishes to express its thanks to the devoted staff of Juliette Fowler Homes, Worth Unit, and VNA Hospice for their loving care of Helen. Visitation Friday, April 29th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman, 1029 S. Greenville Avenue, memorial service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30th, at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church - Shepherd's Garden or to the Alzheimer's Association
