Helen Loretta Ryan

Helen was born in Garland, Texas on February 1st, 1930 to Thelma and James Thomas. Helen was a born and bred Texan and very proud of that fact.

Helen graduated from Addison Grade School, then Hill Crest High School in Dallas, and received a Business Assistance degree from Drones Business School also located in Dallas. After graduation, she started her first job at a well know architectural design firm in Dallas, responsible for the building of Central Expressway.

Helen was married to Bill Ryan (now deceased) for 39 wonderful years and is survived by her only daughter Sheri Lynne Ryan of Plano; 2 nieces Gail Wellinger of Bradenton, Florida; Barbara Holzinger of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 nephews Bret Thomas of Bradenton, Florida; Jay McConathy of Burleson, Texas; and several additional nieces and nephews and many, many wonderful friends.

Proceeded in death by her Mother Thelma and Father James; 3 sisters Charlotte McConathy, Alice Eads, and Doretta Tindle; 1 brother Jimmie Thomas; I niece Shirley Bristow and twin nephews Donnie and Ronnie Conoly.

Helen accepted the Lord as her Savior on June 23rd. 1963. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Plano for 12 yrs. Charter member of Meadows Baptist Church in Plano for 23 yrs. Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson for 26 yrs., then moved to Victory Baptist Church, Rowlett from 2012 until the present day.

A few fun things we did not know about Helen in her younger years she was a swimsuit model for Neiman Marcus and played the goalie position, in roller hockey for a team called the Dallas Demonetts.

All services will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home: 1029 South Greenville Ave, Richardson, TX. 75081

Visitation will be on Monday, April 11th from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, April 12th from 11:00-Noon with interment immediately following, across the street at Restland Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
