Irene (Eirini) Georgopoulou Kennedy. Services for Irene (Eirini) Georgopoulou Kennedy will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 4, 2013. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Sparkman Funeral Directors Funeral Home, with a Trisagion to be held also on Wednesday. Irene (Eirini) Georgopoulou Kennedy, nickname Rinoula, was born on June 15, 1938, in Piontes of Laconia, Greece, the daughter of Demetrious and Lambrini Georgopoulos. Irene or Eirini as it is written in Greek, comes from the ancient Greek word "eiro" which means "to connect" and Eirini in Greek means peace. She attended the University of Athens in Greece and married Billy Joe Kennedy in Athens, Greece on October 18, 1964, and they were married for 45 years. The couple came to the United States on July 7, 1967. He preceded her in death in 2009. Irene was a world traveler and loved more than anything her Lord Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, strangers, and Elvis, Vince Gill and the Dallas Cowboys. Survivors include: Son: Patrick Kelly and wife Donna Kelly of Raytown, Missouri, Billy Kennedy of Waco, TX and Teresa Hicks and husband Michael Hicks of Mesquite, TX. Grandchildren: Jonathan Kelly and wife Marla Kelly of Terrell, TX, Briana Kelly of Raytown, MO, Nikolas Kelly of Raytown, MO, Braden, Emily & Sara Hicks of Mesquite, TX, John Patrick Kennedy of Garland, TX and John Paul Greene of South Carolina, Great Grandchildren: Callia Kelly of Terrell, TX and Layla Lee of Raytown, MO. Brothers: Vasili and Peter Georgopoulos of Athens, Greece; and numerous family in Greece.
